HAILEY CLARKE

Hailey Clarke joined the Wilderness Capital team in June 2022. In her role, she supports the CEO and the team by researching key issues and providing policy guidance.

Hailey brings a wide variety of experiences, including being a Junior Research Fellow at the NATO Association of Canada, a Decision Desk Analyst for Global News during the 2021 Canadian Federal Election, and a Project and Research Support Officer for the Parliamentary Centre's Africa program. Additionally, Hailey is the Co-Founder of the Canadian Undergraduate Policy Competition, Canada's first nationwide policy competition for undergraduate students. As Co-Founder, Hailey recruited hundreds of students across Canada to construct policy solutions to Canada's most pressing issues, engaged with influential stakeholders in both the public and private sectors, and wrote white papers on the federal government's policy responses to climate change and post-pandemic recovery.

In her studies and beyond, Hailey is passionate about sustainable development, gender equality, and climate justice. Most recently, her research has focused on Indigenous land rights movements in Guyana. She has been published in the Journal of East Asian Studies and is a recipient of the Goel Family Prize in Political Science for her outstanding academic and research record.

Hailey Clarke is a BA Honours Political Science graduate from the University of British Columbia and an MPhil Development Studies student at the University of Oxford. She is based in North Vancouver, British Columbia, on the ancestral and unceded territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
